This past week the topics of prayer deeply touched me again. The scriptures were powerful each day. Let me highlight three days this week.

Day 27, March 15 – Pray for The Unborn

“For He will deliver…the afflicted who have no one to help. He will…save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in His sight. Psalm 72:1-2

Prayer Walking helps us see the city the way God sees the city. If you have never prayer walked, you are missing one of the great means to hear the heartbeat of God. Here are a few days over the past week and half that have spoken deeply to me.

Day 12, Praying for the poor
As you read this article 26,000 children in the world died today because of poverty and 72 million children of primary age are not in school due to poverty. India has 1/3 of world’s poor with 42% of the popu

In praying for the various topics and countries in “Seek God for the City, 2010” journey, I reviewed “The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer” by Andrew Murray. Murray was ahead of his time for in the late 1800’s, he was teaching on the ministry of intercession when this was an unknown subject.

During Murray’s days, the church acknowledged the need for prayer but still did not pray. He believed that the church was powerless because of

Centuries ago, the Jews were banished from their land to Babylon and Jeremiah the prophet, declared that they should “…seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Jeremiah 29:7

God’s directive to the Jews was to pray for the city that had destroyed their land and killed their family and friends. Pray for the city where they would live.

The lyrics from Chris Tomlin’s song “God of this City,” are a beautiful prophetic declaration, “You're the God of this City, You're the King of these people, You're the Lord of this nation, You're the Light in this darkness, You're the Hope to the hopeless, You're the Peace to the restless … For greater things have yet to come, And greater things are still to be done in this City.”

“I don't believe God answers prayer; He answers desperate prayers,” Leonard Ravenhill. Months ago, I heard that statement from Chad Taylor who knew Leonard Ravenhill personally. Upon reflection, I believe there is much truth in Ravenhill’s words.

God is not obligated to answer our prayers if we treat prayer like a coin that is dropped into a vending machine and expect an answer to pop out. In the movie Bruce Almighty, Jim Carrey showed us how total chaos res

A little over a week ago, I spent a day in “An Unhurried Day with Jesus,” where I scheduled a three hour solitude time with Jesus. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, I joined other Christians on a retreat with Alan Fadling. I have been on countless retreats with Alan and every time of solitude with God is always filled with new revelation about who I am and who God is.
Prior to our solitude time, Alan directed us to various scriptures that Jesus “oft

How do we respond when there is an earthquake? Over the years, I have heard many comments by Christians that I believe are misinformed, ill-timed and/or misstated on this subject.

In the past, some Christians have implied that God’s judgment was involved in the tsunami of 2004 that killed over 200,000 and in Hurricane Katrina that destroyed New Orleans. I just heard a national Christian leader state that Haiti had a pact with Satan and therefore cursed; and this i

Merry Christmas, 2009

Dear Friends of The Light,

When I was a ten year old, my family had these old Christmas lights. If one of the Christmas light blub went out, all the lights went out. I had an innovative but really bad idea to find the blubs that did not work. I found an electric cord with a plug at one end and open copper wire at the other end. I plugged the chord into the wall socket and at the other end of the open copper wire I wanted to test the light blubs.
