At midnight last night we changed months on the Julian calendar ~ from October to November.  We moved from scary "All Hallows Eve" to sacred "All Saints Day."  What we call "Halloween" was instituted by the church to scare away the "haints" ~ evil spirits ~ from the recently departed saints ~ Christian souls.
