The call to God is a toll-free number! How many of you have ever used it? I used to say God's telephone number is Jeremiah 33:3 ~ "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know." I have called upon the Lord many times when things began to go wrong, and I needed clarity and His direction. He never failed to answer, though I had to wait...

September's Songs
Posted Sep 3rd 2009, 10:42 by Gift of Grace Ministries on Teaching/Education
There are some songs we memorize, singing them over and over, even if it is only bits and pieces. One song says, "Well, it's a long, long time ~ From May to December ~ But the days grow short ~ When you reach September." (Written by Maxwell Anderson & Kurt Weill).
The month of September is like a smorgasbord of events that happen each year, but we don't get to pick and choose from them. Some are very traditional; others happened more recently: Labor...
Genesis and Humans
Posted Aug 4th 2009, 01:19 by Gift of Grace Ministries on Teaching/Education
The book of Genesis has been described as the "beginning of genes." Gene is defined as "a unit of heredity composed of DNA or RNA and forming part of a chromosome, etc., that determines a particular characteristic of an individual" (Reader's Digest Oxford Complete Wordfinder).
The Bible states, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." How hard is that for people to understand? After God created everything else (sun, moon, fish, birds, creatures, plants), then God said, "...
TRUTH
Posted Jul 15th 2009, 12:19 by Gift of Grace Ministries on Teaching/Education
"What is truth?" Pilate asked Jesus when He was on trial for His life. Jesus had answered Pilate's question about being a king, saying, "For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice" (John 18:37). Truth is defined as "sincerity and honesty in character, action, and speech" (NAS Concordance). Earlier Jesus had told His disciples, "I am the way,...
"Signs in the Sky"
Posted Jun 23rd 2009, 11:30 by Gift of Grace Ministries on Teaching/Education
Today I saw the morning star, brilliant against the dark blue of an early dawn sky. I checked my Bible for those passages that mention the "morning star."
In the Revelation of Jesus Christ, given to the apostle John on the Isle of Patmos, we are told that whoever overcomes and whoever keeps Jesus' deeds until the end, He will give us the morning star (Revelation 2:26, 28).
The apostle Peter wrote, "And so we have the prophetic word made more sure,...
Earth Changes
Posted May 17th 2009, 07:36 by Gift of Grace Ministries on Teaching/Education
Listen, My Children, and you shall hear a tale from the Bible told so clearly. It is a story of restoration, of bringing things back to normal from ruin.
Last month people celebrated "Earth Day." We were encouraged to take care of our portion of the community in which we live: clean up rivers, beaches, roadways; repair broken things; use less of everything ~ water, electricity. trees, gas; recycle plastic, paper, aluminum, and glass.
In the book of Genesis, God said everything...
Faith Relationship

Halleluia! Christ is risen! The Lord reigns!
Most of you who read this are Christians, some may profess other religions, or may even be agnostic. This will shock some people, but, Christianity is not a religion! Christianity is a Faith relationship established by Jehovah God when Jesus the Christ (Messiah) began His ministry on earth. In the beginning of time God wanted some friends other than the angels, so He created Adam and Eve. But they aborted God's friendship by siding...
"Hymn of Grateful Praise"
Posted Apr 2nd 2009, 06:47 by Gift of Grace Ministries on Teaching/Education
"For the beauty of the earth, For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth Over and around us lies.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise This our hymn of grateful praise."
Folliott Sanford Pierpoint (1835-1917)
Spring has finally arrived in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, USA. The days are getting warmer, and longer, due to an earlier Daylight Savings Time. Pink azaleas, redbud trees, white dogwood and Bradford pear blossoms, yellow jonquils and multicolored tulips trumpet-call...
Know When to "Fold 'em!"
Posted Feb 28th 2009, 03:01 by Gift of Grace Ministries on Teaching/Education
Years ago Kenny Rogers sang "The Gambler" to many audiences. Part of the familiar chorus says, "You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, Know when to walk away, and know when to run."
The Christian Church today needs to listen to this advice. The context may be different, but the concept holds true.
While Jesus was on earth, He represented the Kingdom Fivefold Ministry positions of Apostle, Prophet, Teacher, Evangelist and Pastor. When He ascended back...
RESPECT

"For though the LORD is exalted, Yet He [respects] the lowly; But the haughty He knows from afar" Psalm 138:6.
Last month my husband and I went to Jamaica for Christmas. The people we met there were beautiful and extremely friendly. One morning as we walked to breakfast we met a young man, and chatted a few minutes about his country. When ready to leave, he presented his fist (as in the "bump") to both of us, and said, "Respect, mon!" ...
Epiphany
Posted Jan 7th 2009, 11:38 by Gift of Grace Ministries on Teaching/Education
Yesterday was Epiphany ~ January 6th ~ the day the liturgical chuches celebrate the Magi bringing their gifts to the Christ Child. The dictionary defines Epiphany as A manifestation of Christ to the Magi according to the biblical account. These Wise Men studied the stars, medicine and natural science. According to the Bible, they had seen this unusual star from their home east of the land of Israel (Matthew 2:2). Genesis 25 relates that Abraham took a second wife after...
"Prince of Peace"

"For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called. . . Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).
In Fairy Tales, the Prince of the land always comes riding by the young maiden, and stirs within her a desire for a better life. One maiden even sings, "Someday my Prince will come!" The dictionary defines prince as "a male member of a royal...

"Change!"
Posted Nov 1st 2008, 03:20 by Gift of Grace Ministries on Teaching/Education
At midnight last night we changed months on the Julian calendar ~ from October to November. We moved from scary "All Hallows Eve" to sacred "All Saints Day." What we call "Halloween" was instituted by the church to scare away the "haints" ~ evil spirits ~ from the recently departed saints ~ Christian souls.
Another change that will occur in the USA will happen on November 4th ~ Election Day. Whoever is elected President and Vice-President will usher in their own...
Faith and Politics

When Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in California interviewed Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain, he made a statement of truth: "We believe in the separation of church and state, but we do not believe in the separaton of faith and politics."
I find it interesting that the four candidates for the highest offices in our land (USA) all have biblical names: Barack (Judges 4), Joseph (Genesis 37), John (Matthew 3), Sarah (Genesis 17). We can learn much about...
