On being a writer

Posted Nov 5th 2006, 08:08 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

I wish I had an original chapter in a yet unstarted book of mine for every time I've met someone who has said, "I've got an idea for a book!" Here's the truth of it: I'm sure they do (most of the time). So why do I have a book out and they don't. I'm going to offer a few possibilities.1. I, initially, landed a publishing contract because of another public kind of work I was doing. I created a...

Ministry=Relationships

Posted Oct 26th 2006, 11:05 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

I recently heard Josh McDowell speak at my church. I’ve read enough of his materials and other materials that there wasn’t a lot he said that was new to me. However, it was still a great event. One of the most important things he talked about was how differently the current generation thinks.
I believe that very few people really understand the extent and impact of this ideological shift. This generation approaches truth in a fundamentally different way than previous generations. As...

If Only Adults Would Volunteer as Readily as Kids!

Posted Aug 8th 2006, 10:50 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

With the school year approaching FAST you are looking now for volunteers.  Here are some ideas, old and new, that may be helpful.
Ask the pastor to speak about the value of one.  Individuals through the ages have changed history!  Examples include Moses, Daniel, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, and numerous others.  Then pass out a sheet at the end of the service with the many areas of need listed and a response form.
     Don’t be afraid to...

Juggling is for Everyone!

Posted Jun 16th 2006, 10:46 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

I was chatting with some fellow jugglers the other day and one of them told me about a college class (a Psychology class in Florida, I believe).  Apparently, for the final exam, the professor would grant an "A" only if the student could maintain a juggle of three balls for two minutes.Sound harsh? Many people would think so. Others would see this as an easy "A." The point the professor was trying to make was that psychologically speaking, many people...

The Book

Posted May 2nd 2006, 09:27 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

At the close of a recent service in CA, a young boy named Adrian came forward to receive Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. What a privilege it was to watch this 7-year old begin his journey with Christ as he walked to the platform by himself. What touched my heart more was after the service he came up to me with his father at his side and told me about his decision to become a Champion for Christ and...

Are You Planning to Welcome Jesus this Sunday?

Posted Mar 22nd 2006, 09:26 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

What would this week look like if you knew that Jesus was actually coming to your church this Sunday? What would be different about the church? Maybe some extra shining of the stained glass, everyone pitching in to make sure things are "just so". What would be different about you or me? Perhaps a little more time in God's word or a more loving attitude toward our families. But, we need to realize that there are a few biblicalexamples, very...

March Madness

Posted Feb 28th 2006, 09:19 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. Not simply because it marks the end of winter, but because it signifies the beginning of 'March Madness.'
For many high school and college basketball fans, March is the highlight of the season. It's the season after the season. Regardless of how your team fared during the regular season, every team gets a new slate come post-season time.
March is the month where exciting down-to-the-wire games, upsets, game-winning shots...

Front Line Ministry

Posted Feb 9th 2006, 12:28 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

Toward the end of Jesus' earthly ministry, his disciples had seen him do some pretty important work. They had watched him calm storms, give sight to the blind, walk on water, and feed thousands from a single lunch box. Some of these guys had even seen him transfigured

Finish Strong!

Posted Dec 7th 2005, 11:49 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."
2 Timothy 4:7-8
My high school basketball coach used a phrase I'll never forget - Finish Strong. He must have yelled those words a dozen times...

November Devotional: Face Mask Tackles of Life

Posted Nov 9th 2005, 12:03 by For HIS Kidz on Church & Ministry

I recently attended a high school football game with my wife Deborah. We were there to support one of the players whom we had come to know. His team was playing extremely well and on their way to a blowout. The standout player we had come to see had scored three touchdowns alone in the first half and everything seemed fine
