New Testament Apocrypha: Acts (Gnostic)
This is the fourth in a continuing Ekklesia Then & Now series on the so-called New Testament Apocrypha, books that dealt with Jesus and His Apostles but which are not included in the New Testament canon. Because there is so much material concerning apocryphal Acts, I decided to break the discussion of into two parts. This one covers works that are not considered orthodox. Previous installments have been an Introduction...

Co-Workers: Aristarchus
After a lengthy holiday hiatus, Ekklesia Then & Now returns with the second in the co-workers series—articles about the early Christians Paul referred to as sunergos sunergos. The series began with Aquila and Priscilla and will continue over the coming months with thirteen additional people so honored. This issue introduces one of the more obscure but nonetheless important of Paul's co-workers, Aristarchus.

Thanksgiving
It's been a while, I know, and I hope to pick up the bi-weekly
schedule in two weeks. For now, however, let me offer this updated reprint of
an ET&N originally published in 2003
Among the terms used for the Lord's Supper or Communion
is the Eucharist, which is still used in some "high" Christian groups
such as Roman Catholics, Episcopalians, and Orthodox. The...

Co-Workers:
Prisca and Aquila
This is the first
in a new Ekklesia Then & Now series looking the people Paul referred
to as "co-workers" (Greek, sunergos sunergos, literally
worker-worker). This was not a label Paul threw around lightly. Indeed, he applies
it to only fifteen people, ranging from the well-known (Luke, Mark, Timothy,
Titus) to the...

Update on
Hali Theander. Two weeks ago, I asked for prayers for Hali Theander, the 12-year old daughter of friends of ours from Colorado. Hali had surgery Friday, the doctors were able to remove about half the glioma (brain tumor). She is conscious, eating well, and in good spirits, but there are likely to be terrible trials ahead for Hali and her family....
